Checklists

Every track you finish passes the same gates: rough mix balanced, checked on a second system, master exported. The list already exists. It lives in your head, where it costs attention and gets skipped.

Crate writes it down once per phase. A checklist says what done means in Drafting, in Mixing, in any phase you have; it travels with the project and is waiting when the card arrives.

The defaults

The Library’s Checklists tab holds one editable default per phase. The defaults ship short and outcome-only; edit them until they read like your process.

Templates and copies

When a project first enters a phase, it copies that phase’s checklist and owns the copy. Four rules keep the two apart.

  1. Edit a project’s list freely; the template never changes.
  2. Edit a template freely; existing projects never change.
  3. Reset on a project’s checklist restores the current template.
  4. Reset on a template restores Crate’s defaults.

Where phases get theirs

Checklists also attach to pipelines, which is where phases get theirs (see Pipelines). Saving your own named checklists for reuse across pipelines comes with Studio.
