The Inbox and triage

A scan of an old folder can surface 300 projects in a minute. The usual next move is paralysis.

Crate splits the problem in two. The Inbox is the location: every scanned project lands there and waits. Triage is the action: sorting the pile into phases, one project at a time, with keys instead of drag. Nothing reaches the board until you decide it does.

The Inbox is the location

New and re-scanned arrivals collect in the Inbox. Rows, not cards; an inbox project has no detail page and no phase yet.

Start triage from the Inbox, for everything or for a selection.

Triage is the action

In triage, Crate shows one project at a time with what it read from the file: tempo, key, tracks, arrangement. It proposes a phase and says why in producer terms. When the signals can’t decide, it says Not enough signal and proposes nothing.

  1. Enter accepts the suggestion.
  2. A number key picks a phase yourself.
  3. S skips and leaves the project in the Inbox.

Review, then skip freely

A review step at the end shows everything you sorted, with revert.

Skipping is allowed. An inbox with 40 skipped sketches in it is honest; a board with 40 guessed cards is not.
