Notes

The plan for a track rarely lives in the set. It lives in a phone memo, a sticky note, or your head, and it’s gone by the next session.

Every project in Crate has one page of notes. Open the project and write. The page saves as you type, stays with the project through every phase, and never touches the .als.

What to write

Anything the next session needs: the idea behind the track, what to fix, mix notes, a lyric, a reference to pull up. Checklists hold what every project needs in a phase. Notes hold what only this one needs.

Writing and formatting

There is no edit mode and no save button. Click into the page and type; changes save a moment after you stop.

Type / at the start of a line for headings, lists, quotes, and dividers.
Select text to bold, italicize, strike through, or link it.
Drag the handle beside a block to move it.
On a phone, the toolbar above the page does all of it.

Where notes go

Notes stay with the project through every phase. Sending a project back to the Inbox clears its checklists, not its notes; they’re waiting when it returns to the board. A released track’s notes lock with it. Re-open the release to edit them.

Your first note

The first empty page you open holds a short welcome note. It’s yours: edit it, or delete it.

Studio

On the free plan, notes live in this browser with the rest of your library. With Studio, they sync to every device you sign in on. Connected assistants can add dated notes to the end of a page. They never edit or delete what you wrote, and every addition shows in the project’s History. Assistants read your board, never your audio.
